The ACE Center is an academic and professional administrative unit dedicated to serving and empowering students, faculty, the administration, and employers by听providing听access to information and resources. The primary function of the unit is to maintain this access to advising via people,听resources, and workshops. The ACE Center鈥檚 long-term goal is to increase outreach and efficiency via investment in the redesign of听processes and the integration of听innovative technology.听The center aims to instill students with a sense of responsibility to themselves, with personal听organizational skills,听and with maturity 鈥 assets that will听facilitate听success at听91视频听and beyond.听
The ACE Center is dedicated to enabling听students to听identify,听understand听and navigate pathways from their听previous听experiences and personal passions through their academic interests and on to their career听objectives.听Key to this process听is听integrated advising: the notion that听every degree-seeking undergraduate听student听benefits from听the听assignment of听both听a staff advisor听and听a faculty mentor, coupled with the recognition that advising is a shared endeavor that听implicates all 91视频 staff and faculty, who support students in听many ways听as they travel their pathways听through 91视频.听

Students' individual pathways are made up of all their curricular and co-curricular activities. They begin with all the passions, interests听and experiences students听have听when they enter 91视频.听The key elements of a pathway through 91视频 include 1) the student's听majors and minors;听2) elective courses;听3) internships and work experience;听4) courses taken as part of the core curriculum;听5)听additional听experiences,听acquired听skills听and credentials, including certifications and micro-certifications;听and 6) other co-curricular experiences. As students' pathways are complex and often non-linear, our听role听is to help students听acquire听the means to听navigate these pathways effectively by building intentionally on their often-evolving passions and strengths.
There are two ways to think about the relationships among majors, careers, and pathways:听subject-oriented听and听ends-oriented. Within听ends-oriented pathways, students plan and select pathway experiences (including the major) with听specific career aspirations听in mind. In听subject-oriented pathways, students' decisions may evolve from their interest in a major or from their听passions.听Through the ACE Center, students receive support in approaching their personal pathways both ways.听
